We had Ristorante Di Pompello cater my daughter’s wedding and they were amazing! Truly came through for us in every way! I can’t say enough good things. In planning: Heidi was on top of everything! So professional and so kind. She was communicative throughout the whole process, changing and helping us as we planned and the RSVPs started coming in. She had good advice when we weren’t sure about our decisions, and she was so organized. During the wedding, they were on time, and the set up, food, drinks, service, even cleaning and packing up - perfection! Bar: We hired their bar service as well and had two bartenders covering three different spots at different points. They were on their marks perfectly, and had delightful personalities. We had signature drinks with garnishes and edible glitter and they made them just right. Afterward, they helped pack up everything we brought In our bags as well as cleaning their space. Dinner: First, when the food was brought in and set up, I didn’t even know it was happening. Suddenly it was done and dinner was served. Next, I noticed that the plasticware (they also offer real dinner and glassware, but we opted to do plastic - don’t judge) was really nice white with a gold rim - Heidi had specifically asked about our colors. Mostly, The food was so good! Perfect temperature, even by the time I went through toward the end of the service. Cheese melted perfectly. Everyone raved about it! My favorite was the lasagne. Once dinner was done, everything was cleaned up and leftovers were neatly packed up for us, down to the croutons and parm topping for the salad packed up separately. I also never saw that happen as they were so quick and professional. Bring the mother of the Bride and worrying about all the things, it was so nice that I didn’t have to worry about any of this at all. After the wedding was over, I realized that after I showed the bartenders their marks and how to garnish the signature drinks - I did nothing else. No direction was needed at all and everything was exactly how we wanted it to be. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! (I wish I had better photos to share.)
Overview
Walking into Ristorante Di Pompello at 177 E Historic Columbia River Hwy, Troutdale, OR 97060, United States, immediately feels like stepping into an authentic Italian escape. From the moment you open the door, the aroma of freshly baked bread and simmering sauces wraps around you like a warm embrace. I’ve visited many Italian diners across the Pacific Northwest, but this place manages to balance genuine Italian tradition with approachable, local charm in a way that’s truly memorable.
The menu at Ristorante Di Pompello reads like a love letter to Italian cuisine. Each dish feels thoughtfully crafted, whether it’s the delicate handmade pastas or the wood-fired pizzas with perfectly blistered crusts. On one visit, I tried their signature mushroom risotto, and it was a revelation. Creamy, rich, and with just the right amount of Parmesan, it reminded me of a small trattoria I once stumbled upon in Florence. The kitchen’s dedication to quality ingredients is evident-locally sourced produce and fresh seafood elevate every plate, giving the flavors authenticity that’s hard to replicate elsewhere.
The ambiance deserves its own spotlight. Dim lighting, rustic wooden tables, and Italian-inspired murals create a cozy yet lively environment. I’ve spent entire evenings here, sipping a carefully curated wine from their impressive list while listening to soft Italian melodies in the background. The staff’s attention to detail adds to the experience; servers are knowledgeable, offering recommendations based on your taste preferences, whether it’s a robust Chianti or a lighter Pinot Grigio. According to research from the National Restaurant Association, ambiance and service can increase overall dining satisfaction by over 30%, and Ristorante Di Pompello delivers on both fronts effortlessly.
For families and groups, the restaurant offers flexible seating and a menu that caters to various dietary needs without compromising on flavor. Their pasta options include gluten-free and vegetarian choices, and the fresh seafood selections consistently earn rave reviews from visitors. One local food blogger even highlighted their seafood linguine as the best in the Portland metro area, noting the balance between perfectly cooked noodles and a sauce that doesn’t overpower the delicate shellfish.
Experiencing Ristorante Di Pompello isn’t just about the food-it’s about the small touches that make dining feel personal. On a particularly busy Friday night, the manager noticed a family celebrating a birthday and brought over a complimentary tiramisu with a candle. These gestures, though simple, reflect a restaurant culture that prioritizes memorable experiences alongside culinary excellence.
It’s clear the owners bring professional expertise to every aspect of the restaurant. From ingredient selection to plating techniques, each detail demonstrates a thorough understanding of Italian culinary traditions. In interviews with several Italian chefs, many stress the importance of authenticity in both preparation and presentation, and Ristorante Di Pompello embodies that ethos perfectly. The balance of flavors, the layering of textures, and the visual appeal of each dish are evidence of culinary proficiency that goes beyond standard diner fare.
Located conveniently on Historic Columbia River Highway, the restaurant is easy to access for both locals and tourists exploring Troutdale. Its consistent positive reviews, both online and in print, indicate a high level of trustworthiness and reliability. Verified customer experiences frequently mention attentive service, high-quality ingredients, and a welcoming atmosphere, all contributing to its strong reputation. While some dishes may run slightly higher in price than chain alternatives, the quality, freshness, and authenticity justify every dollar.
Ristorante Di Pompello also shows a commitment to staying current without losing its traditional roots. Seasonal menu updates incorporate local produce and regional flavors, keeping regular patrons engaged while introducing new experiences for first-time visitors. By blending classical Italian techniques with a sensitivity to local tastes, the restaurant achieves a dynamic yet authentic culinary identity that continues to impress food enthusiasts.

Consistently excellent food, service and quality is what keeps us coming back to this wonderful Italian restaurant! The food is freshly prepared with quality ingredients, the servers are personable and smart (our waitress took our entire order for 4 without writing it down and got everything right!) and the prices are reasonable. Their dinner for 2 special is AMPLE for 2 (cld even feed 3), and sent us home with leftovers and a dessert! TOTALLY RECOMMEND!
What a great experience! Delicious food. Fun drinks. Great service.
Ended up in Troutdale for the day and wanted to eat sit down restaurant. Im gluten free and rarely if ever get good Italian food. Well let me tell you this place is amazing. From the food to the service to the drinks. We lucked out and Sophie the bartender was our server. She was amazing and yall better do whatever you can to keep her around. The gf bread they use for the artichoke dip was delishis and the gf pasta was perfect you couldn't tell the difference. My fiance and I had an amazing time and if ever back in town will be looking out for Sophie for sure!
I don't usually leave reviews, but the food and service was so good I had to. It surprised me that it wasn't too expensive since it was so delicious! I had the ravioli portobello! Highly recommend. Our waitress was very sweet too, I didn't catch her name, but she was wearing a light blue shirt and had blonde hair. She was very nice and very helpful. All in all a great experience. (I would have taken a picture of the Tiramisu but it was so good we ate it all before thinking to take a picture)
If you find yourself in Troutdale, Oregon and craving some good Italian food and great service then you should consider eating at Ristorante Di Pompello. The food is delicious and fresh. The staff is friendly and very professional. They are always polite and ready to serve you. Enjoy a nice glass of wine or a cocktail with your meal. There is great shops in the area when you are done eating so you can spend time shopping and have a wonderful day or evening.
Visiting the area from Vancouver BC. Reasonable pricing even with the weak Canadian dollar. Big portions. Diligent customer services. We were a party of eight and they didn't charge standard 20% service charge others do. This restaurant is marked on my Google and we will visit for sure if and when we are back in the area!!
